Lean, Mean, and Squeaky Clean Challenge – Let’s Get Our Heads In The Game

The thing with these really long challenges like this is that they are so easy to not take seriously after a while. We have got to re-ignite our fires!

The sugarless challenge was a good way to do so for last week (thanks Sarah!). We need to do it all over again this week. What is one change that you can focus on for next week. Just one.

  1. Totally not in the game. A full weekend of eating/drinking. πŸ˜œπŸ˜–. Beginning Thursday night.
    So….vega smoothies for breakfast and lunch for the week.
    Did manage 30 squats and 30 lunges.

  2. I went to a friend’s house for dinner on Saturday and had a glass of wine and she had a gluten-free chocolate cake for dessert, so I had to have a piece. I don’t think it was sugar-free but I got right back on track on Sunday. I guess that can be my cheat meal. I want to do another week of eating sugar-free.

    I have been tracking on MFP for a long time and I think I want to take a break from tracking, obsessing over calories and macros. I have to trust that I know how to eat and listen to my body to eat when I’m hungry and stop when I’m full.

    1. That’s so true. Sometimes I find not having a meal plan and not giving food that much thought takes away some of it’s power. Everyone is different but I find that if I just eat when I’m hungry and eating what I feel like in that moment I eat less and I’m more satisfied. I don’t like being told( even by myself) what to eat and when. I started treating food for what it is nourishment. It has greatly improved my success by not obsessing. If that makes sense. Once again, not for everyone. Lots of people do well with structure and plans when it come to food. Ive just recently discovered I’m not one of them. good luck with making this change. πŸ’• I hope it works for you!

      1. I couldn’t agree more! I will make a plan and then spite myself! So stupid. Even just logging here can be too much pressure at times. I also have to admit that I am not a one cheat meal a week kind of person. I like a little something everyday. If not I feel deprived and then I go overboard. And you’re right Sarah, we can’t give food too much power. Life is so much more than food.

      And yeah, those tracking tools are only beneficial if they are actually beneficial.

  3. My changes for this week will be
    Work- responding to calls, texts and emails in a more timely fashion.
    Workouts- add something new everyday
    Nutrition – drink 2 L of plain no BCAA’s water a day
    Personal – sleep until 5 am

      1. Simple. Text comes in answer it, phone rings answer it, email comes answer it. Procrastination is a huge stressor for me. (And I mean as I see these things. I’m not ever going to live tied to an electronics deviceπŸ™‚)

  4. My change this week is to work on personal development a little. I had a realization this morning that I need to focus on quiet time more. I never feel like my battery is fully charged and it’s getting old. So I’m going to make an effort to have a block of alone time. I’m also going to focus more on prayer, and my husband and I are hanging our phones up after dinner. If it rings we’ll answer, but no texting, internet etc. Bring constantly connected is sucking the life out of both of us and we need to reconnect as a family. The no phone is his idea and it’s perfect timing for the way I’m feeling. I love how we are always so in tune and on the same page. I think he knows me better than I know myself sometimes, lol!

    1. Such a good one. I have GOT to hang up the phone at night!!! You guys are giving me good ones for this week.
      And I hear ya. I am not going to post on Saturdays anymore. I am going to finish this challenge because I’m just going to finish it but you guys have to do what you gotta do!

    2. I love this! I’ve started this diet of myself. Not my husband because unfortunately he has to to a lot of work after dinner. But the kids and I are. The kids are doing puzzles and art a lot now instead of tv or tablets and we are going to start walks after dinner. I’m a firm believer that these are all my guidelines not hard and fast rules. Some days I
      Sure we will watch RV after dinner but not regularly. I actually haven’t watched TV in months!!! Nothing! I’m in bed buy 9! Lol I love it too! Good luck Anne!

  5. Couldn’t agree more with all that is said. I, myself was thinking of putting away my iPad for the week. I just get too involved with it when I sit for breakfast, lunch and then after dinner. I do research and whatnot but my hubs thinks I just scroll Facebook. That makes me so irritated ! I remind him that he is the one who got me the iPad for Christmas years ago, lol ! So…if you no longer hear from me…you will know why. I think I just need a break.

    I did good today with food. I did have to make popcorn to push me through because I was struggling a bit due to the fact that I was not, or could not (because I have no goodies in house) to eat whatever the heck I wanted. I’m calling it a success.

    In regards to tracking foods. A huge UGH for me. Years ago, I had a notebook. I logged foods, calories, blab blab. I, at that time, I was seeing a life coach/counselor. She advised me to stop doing this as it had such a horrible effect on me. I had a hard time getting rid of the book, but, I did. A total mental relief. I had, since then, got on to a few sights to find actual stats on my food intake but I have not done that for about two years now. Without a doubt, my social life is getting in the way of my eating success. Toooo many outings with tooooo many cocktails. Toooo many “be happy” times going on. It is a hard balance. One that I cannot get under control at this time.

    Plan was to do upper, squats and lunges. But, I didn’t. I had gotten out to my gardens and dug up some plants for relocation. Big clumps of hosta and other perennials. I do know that I felt that I was stronger than last year. So, a win for the weeks of weights.

    1. Ok gardening is tough! I’m not a lover of it but I weeded a section of fred’s of grass the other day and seeded it and that’s a workout!!!! So win for you on the workout!
