I am reading Girl Defined. So good. It’s all about bringing light to what the Bible says about our role as women. And it is such and amazing role! I am not finished with the book yet but my favorite part of the book so far is the “Three Pillars of Biblical Womanhood”: helper, life producer, and relationship nurturer. And it’s neat how they point out that a women doesn’t have to have a husband or children to do these things! Here’s a little from the book on the girl, defined.
“And the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper suitable for him.” Genesis 2:18
Kristen and Bethany say that because the Bible says that as Eve was made for Adam, we women were made for someone. We are a helper. While some think that people a helper means that you are of lesser value, that’s not at all true! The Hebrew word that the Bible uses for helper in Genesis 2:18 is ezer. This is the same word that is used of God is Psalm 15:9-11! What an honor for this word to also be used for God’s creation, woman!
“He gives the childless woman a household, making her the joyful mother of children. Hallelujah!” Psalm 113:9
While growing a baby inside of you and giving birth is hands down a miraculous experience, not all women become mothers. God has given us the role of life producers no matter if you bear children or not. We can produce both physical and spiritual children. The book says “It is not a given that all women will marry or that all married women will be able to bear children. What IS a given is that all women are called to be spiritually fruitful.”
Back to women being made for someone. God created us to be highly relational creatures. The book says that women speak an average of 20,000 words per day when men speak on average 7000. We women like to connect with other human beings. The book says that God designed us that way so that we can be nurturers of relationships. I think this is so special! We can nurture relationships with our husbands, our children, neighbors, siblings, anyone! Whoever God has placed in your life right now. Someone’s life could be drastically changed just by you letting God shine through you into their lives!
I will update you guys on the rest but so far Girl Defined is a great read.
Doctor’s Appointment, Super Target, New Fav Larabar
I had to go to a doctor’s appointment in John’s Creek yesterday. John’s Creek is about an hour from me so knowing that I would be on the road for a while, I went ahead and ate an early lunch and then just packed some snacks for the road…
On the way home I passed a Super Target so of course I had to stop….
and get a Starbucks…
and roam the aisles…
I came out with some new socks for Ryan and Anna, a colander, some ground Dunkin Donuts coffee for Jason (his fav), and some coconut Larabars for me! I had them for my snack to day and they are hands down my new favorite. How have I not tried these??? So good!
Workout of the Day
Another short and sweet (yet sweaty) session of 22 Minute Hard Core cardio!
