Party Planning, Almost Zips, Amazon Fresh

Good Morning!

I love Mondays. New beginnings.

Anna’s Party Planning

Anna turns one on September 12th and I am so excited to plan her party! I have never been one to entertain often but having kids has really awakened a desire to host gatherings in our home. We haven’t really done a lot of this yet because our dog Cody is HUGE (125 lbs) and we haven’t had a fence until this past weekend! He is super friendly and would never hurt a soul but he is so excited to see visitors and still pees when he sees them. Still, at 5 years old….

Cody being Cody
So now we have a fence to put Cody in and we are also remodeling our home! I’m getting so excited for how it’s going to look! We are brightening up the place but still keeping a cozy feel. It’s still far from finished but here’s what’s going down at the moment. Jason switched our brass light fixtures to bronze and is in the middle of putting wainscoting all around the house!

Since it will be Anna’s first birthday party and she still loves the boxes the presents come in more than the actual gifts, I’m keeping things pretty simple. I am doing a butterfly theme and here are some of the snacks I am planning to make. Gotta love Pinterest.

On The Weight Loss Front

You may or my not remember my post a few months back about my bridesmaids dress not fitting. The wedding is in October and so I was in a mad dash to lose a few pounds (and by a few I mean several) in order to zip the dress! Well, through a plant based vegan diet and regular workouts, it almost zips all the way up. Praise the Lord. A little more consistency and I should be able to zip the thing soon. That being said, I still foresee Spanks shopping in my near future. Haha! At this point I have pretty much ditched the scale completely and just try to zip the dress everyday. This has been a great motivator. Nothing says “just do it” like a looming wedding that you are actually in and the dress not fitting.

So cheers to this finally stretch!

Amazon Fresh

I have absolutely fallen in love with Amazon Fresh. I now use it for the majority of my grocery shopping. It just makes grocery shopping so easy in this season with littles. I find it to be more expensive than an Aldi shopping trip but less expensive than a Publix shopping trip. So maybe like a Kroger trip? It’s amazing. I usually order around 7pm at night and opt for one of the morning deliveries. I have had several deliveries at this point and have yet to have a problem! The whole order is always right on time and perfectly packaged. It’s the best thing ever in my opinion. Thanking God for Amazon Fresh!

Anna’s 11 Month Monthaversary!

Good morning!

Anna is 11 months today! Gosh, the year has just flown at lightning speed. It is just amazing how when you are enjoying something time absolutely flies but when you are not enjoying something one minute will seem like a day. Like the rare occasion when Jason will ask me to help him with home repairs or worse, yard work. Not only do I feel like the few minutes that I help him are years but my body feels like it weights 5000 pounds. Just to lift my arm to help him is a struggle. Haha! Seriously!

Anyway, here’s Anna on her 11 month monthaversary.

Anyone else have this issue when trying to capture moments with your little blessings?

We love you Anna! Now onto birthday party planning!

When has time flown for you recently?

Unplugged, Tears for the Year, New Workout Schedule, Vegan-ish

Hey Guys!

I’m so excited to blog! Our internet is acting up here at the house so I haven’t been able to blog. I miss blogging but I am LOVING not being online so much. I do not miss social media in the least bit. I haven’t been on it at all except one time last week to switch my privacy setting but I didn’t look at the news feed at all. I didn’t realize how much it was bogging down my brain! Has anyone else quit social media? How did you feel once you broke ties? Better? Worse? For me, I had this feeling like I would miss out on something. But then after quitting I realized that there is this thing called the real world in which things are happening all the time! Haha! Kidding. It’s funny that I felt that way because I do not feel that way now, I actually have more peace of mind.

Ok, Onto today’s post!

Ryan’s Started School

So Ryan started school. He loves it, I’m a mess of course. I had been tearing up over the past year every time I thought about Ryan starting school so by the time I was actually walking him in on his first day, I was emotionless. Not a tear. I thought I was in the tear clear until he got home from school and I realized just how well he was taking to school. The boy who we wondered how in the world we were going to get him to sleep in his own bed with the lights off at a decent time, now wanted to sleep alone in his room with the lights off and and was frustrated that he couldn’t fall asleep. Then came day two. His teacher, who is so sweet by the way, explained to us at the open house that we could walk him to his classroom the first three days of school. I walked him in the first day, he seemed a little nervous but he gave me a hug and sat in his seat. I was so impressed that he remembered wear it was! The second day, I walked him in. I didn’t even ask him because he wants me to right? As we approached the building a teacher stopped Ryan and without a glance in my direction, asked Ryan how he would be going home and he answered her right back without hesitation. I know why she did not acknowledge my presence, he has to do it. And he did it! I was in shock at how my son whom I have to ask at least five times to do anything, all of a sudden transformed into this capable student the second he set foot on school grounds! That night when Ryan got home, I asked him if he wanted me to walk him in the next day. He said no. I expected him to say that and obviously this is the best case scenario for the first week of school but it just goes to show that just when you think you escape the tears, there is always something waiting to jerk them out.

New School Workout Schedule

Now that the school year has begun, gone are the days of me taking my sweet time getting around to my workout in the morning. I want to get it done before I take Ryan to school so that I don’t talk myself out of it on the way home or don’t do it due to having to an appointment or whatnot. I am keeping the workouts around 20-30 minutes while I am getting used to this morning routine. Here’s how it’s gone down this week…

Monday- 22 Minute Hard Core Cardio
Tuesday- 22 Minute Hard Core Resistance
Wednesday- Insanity Max 30
Thursday- 22 Minute Hard Core Resistance

High five!

Still stuck in my vegan-ish ways. I am really trying to work on consistency though. I really love the way I feel when keeping a vegan diet but there is something about the month of July that makes me want to eat yummy things all the time. Seriously, when I think back to my summer blog posts, July is always filled with posts about me falling off the wagon. Some people find the holidays the hardest time to stick to healthy eating but for me it’s the dog days of summer here in Georgia. This week had been pretty consistent though. I am just sticking to my usual favs: tofu, oatmeal, fruit, nuts, Larabars, seaweed. Speaking of seaweed, guess who absolutely loves seaweed snacks… Anna! She ate three sheets yesterday!

I hope you all are having a great week so far. Tell me all about it!

The Pouring Out

Well blogosphere, it’s just you and me.

I have been so distracted. So distracted. It’s no one’s fault but my own. I love to know, and I love to be in the know. I love to seek and keep seeking until I find what I am looking for. The internet is a black hole for people like me. You can seek and seek and seek and find and find and find all day long. And just like tearing your house apart looking for a lost sock, people like myself will tear apart the internet looking for their lost anything under the sun. There is always something else, always more to find…..

I have known for a while that I needed to withdrawal from the virtual world. My mind is never at ease. It’s always half in and half out. My attention is always half here and half there. I quit smoking cold turkey because I cannot “cut back”. I am either a chain smoker or a non-smoker. I know my weaknesses. Where one can “cut back”, I must cut off!

So why am I still here in this space? It’s different. Writing is my release. The time when my whirling thoughts all come together and finally make sense as they leave my fingertips and become clear and concise in front of me. I am no longer consuming, I am pouring out.  And what is black and white when spoken, is illuminated beautifully in the written word.

What is your release?
