Writing Your Prayers

Writing Your Prayers

Good morning!

I wanted to share with you something I have been doing the past few months.

Writing Prayers

The season of life am in is wonderful yet pretty challenging and unpredictable at times. Ryan is five and Anna is almost two. Any stay at home mom with small kids knows that every day is a new day and almost sure to be filled with surprises. The good thing about being a stay at home mom is that if I had a late night and need extra sleep, I can get it! But extra sleep usually means forfeiting my quiet morning. While I may forfeit my quiet morning, I cannot forfeit my Bible and prayer time. I find that I can read the Bible with noise around me but keeping focused while praying is another story. Enter, journaling my prayers! I have found it SO much easier to stay focused when writing my prayers down! I write my prayers just like a letter starting with “Dear Lord,” and ending with “Amen.” I have found this to be a wonderful tool to help make sure I am still praying a meaningful prayer when my mornings are not so peaceful and it’s also really neat to see your prayers in words. Especially when they are answered!

This may be something that only people who love writing enjoy but I wanted to share just in case it would help any of you moms of littles out there to have a better prayer life. Just DO NOT FORGET to direct your thoughts to God as our write. You aren’t writing to yourself after all. It is a genuine prayer to the God of the Universe.

Question:
Do you write your prayers?
