Life With 2 Kids, Volumetrics, Body After Baby, and My Love For Fall

*Note- I have been trying to finish this post for days now. I apologize in advance for any grammatical errors or things that just don’t make any sense haha.

Hellooo Peaches!

Well there has certainly been some changes around here. I finally have a moment to catch you all up on what’s been going on!

Anna Kate

Anna Kate Teal was born at 10:37 pm on September 12, 2016. She is wonderful and beautiful and just perfect in every way. I feel like a big idiot for ever thinking that I couldn’t possibly love another child as much as I love Ryan. I am amazed at how much love my heart can hold. I love her just as much as Ryan and feel so blessed to have two beautiful children. Every morning since Ryan was born I have been in complete awe. I look at him and feel that I have my own personal Grand Canyon or Niagara Falls to view daily right in my own home. Now I have two Grand Canyons. I am amazed at God’s creation and master craftsmanship.

Life Lately

A WHIRLWIND! Anna will be 2 weeks old tomorrow and time has absolutely flown! We have had tons of visitors to see the baby which I have to say I find wonderful. I was so miserable the past few weeks of my pregnancy I pretty much stayed in my hole and only came out to go grocery shopping. It’s been so nice seeing everyone and catching up and just acting like a human being in general haha! Also, I feel amazing now so I have been buzzing around the house between Anna’s feedings getting all the things done that I was too lazy to do pregnant. Bending over is so easy! No acid reflux or feeling like I am going to bust! So between taking care of my 3 year old and baby, visitors, housework, and trying to sleep my day is full! I am not able to work out yet because it’s only been two weeks but I honestly feel like I am more active now than I ever was in my third trimester even with my workout haha! It feels so good to have energy and be able to move!

Volumetrics

Volumetrics is the diet that I am currently on in my little adventure to try 12 diets in 12 months. I have to say this diet is really easy to stick too! I have been able to stick to it through my stay in the hospital and even with the chaos of newborn life. I don’t even watch calories or anything. I just make sure that every time I eat I choose low calorie things like chicken, eggs, egg whites, apples, veggies, almond milk and V8. I have been consistently losing and haven’t really had to think about my diet much. So I totally recommend Volumetrics for the new mom!

My Body

Those of you who have children know how GLORIOUS you feel right after having a baby. Sure, you just gave birth, you’re still a little slow, but the lack of acid reflux, lethargy, and baby/fluid weight brings a feeling nothing short of ecstatic. I just want to hug myself everyday haha. I have a new beautiful baby in addition to my already beautiful child, I feel amazing, and IT”S FALL!!! My absolute favorite time of year! The coming of fall totally compounds all of my already awesome things happening in my life! YEEEEEEEE!!!

As far as weight goes, I have lost 24 pounds in 2 weeks which is pretty fantastic. The first 15 was in 3 days. So weird. But I still have 16 pounds to go before I reach my pre-pregnancy weight. That’s ok though! I know it’s strange but every time I have weight to lose there is a part of my that gets super excited. Like I have a lump of clay in front of me just waiting to be molded. It’s actually pretty cool!

I’m going to go ahead and share this because I have yet to see it anywhere on the internet. I KNOW some woman out there has to be experiencing the same thing. I keep seeing all these almost flat bellies on on Instagram just a week or even days post pregnancy. While I am glad for them (and envious), this was definitely NOT the case for me with either of my pregnancies. Here is the SLOW deflation of my bump so far. At 4 days postpartum I still looked a good 6 months pregnant. At Day 11 the bump was a good bit smaller but definitely still a bump. This morning was Day 14 postpartum and it’s a little smaller but I still have a good while to go before I have my pre-pregnancy tummy back. So, if this is your story, just know you are not alone.

Please tell me what you have been up to and what’s been going on. How is fit life? Do you love fall as much as I do? How long did it take for your tummy to return to normal after your pregnancy?

Have a great day yall!

September 8, 2016 – Volumetrics Day 4

I have to say Volumetrics is my favorite diet that I have tried so far. It’s so easy because you just fill up on a bunch of low calorie foods. I’m never hungry and as long as I keep an abundance of the foods from “Category 1”  around, I have no problem staying around my calorie range and never feel deprived. So far so good on Volumetrics!

Here is yesterday’s food!

Breakfast- Usual scramble, apple
Snack- Vegan chocolate Shakeology, 2 cups almond milk, seaweed
Lunch- 6 oz tofu, Normandy blend, 1/2 cup brown jasmine rice, 2 tbs yogurt dressing
Snack- apple, seaweed
Dinner- 4 oz pork loin, broccoli, 2 tbs yogurt dressing, apple, V8
Snack- apple, almond milk

Can you tell my latest craving is no doubt apples? HAS TO BE FUJI!

Exercise – Country Heat Giddy Up!

IMG_3638[1]

I committed to doing a Beachbody Health Bet for as much of this month as I could (since baby is coming). Even though Anna is due, I needed something to keep me on track. The past few months, if I don’t eat healthy and include some sort of exercise, I swell up like a tick! This Health Bet was just what I needed. I will be starting my own Challenge Group in October and can’t wait. Details to come!

How are all of you doing? I love seeing your food and exercise everyday. It really keeps me going. Some days it is SO HARD to do anything at all and then some days I feel pretty good. I can’t thank you enough for the motivation you ladies give.

Questions:

How is your fitness lately? Any victories?

Whatcha eating?

Any exercise?

Any fun plans for the weekend?

Have a FANTASTIC Friday Peaches!

Hey Peaches!

What a good day! I love new beginnings!!! Plus, I AM HERE! It’s September!!! The baby is due this month! YES! The light at the end of the tunnel.

September 1, 2016 – Volumetrics

First day of Volumetrics went off with a hitch! Without a hitch? How does the saying go? Anyway, it went good.

Breakfast- 1 egg, 6 white scramble, apple
Snack- Chocolate Shakeology, 1.5 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
Lunch- 6 oz tofu, broccoli, 2 tbs ranch yogurt dressing, apple
Snack- seaweed, 1 egg
Dinner- 4 oz chicken, Normandy blend, 2 tbs Avocado Salsa yogurt dressing (So good! First time trying this flavor! I need to be a rep for Bolthouse Farms. I am constantly talking them up on here.)

Volumetrics is all about filling up on a bunch of low calories foods so that you feel full and satisfied!

Exercise- ACTUAL Country Heat Workout…..Geez

So, sometimes I love myself because of my blondness. Remember how a I was so excited to try the Counrty Heat program?

IMG_3432[1]

Well, when I received the program. I saw the “Dance Mash-Up” and then opened the larger booklet and found the meal plan. I have been doing the 20 minute dance mash-up this whole time thinking it was all there was to Country Heat.

No.

I just happened to look back over the meal plan last week and realized the front part of the booklet folded out REVEALING COUNTRY HEAT HAHA! There are 6 different workouts, each one having a breakdown of the dance moves that you can play beforehand if you want. I felt so stupid!!!

IMG_3638[1]

So this morning, I did”Country Swing” (32 minutes) and the extremely helpful breakdown before. It was sooooo much easier and super fun! I totally got into it when I knew the moves!

I could blame this on pregnancy brain. But I’m pretty sure this is just good ole Ang.

Questions:

What did you eat today?

Any exercise?

When was the last time you missed something completely obvious?

Please tell me I’m not alone here.

TKP Review: The Flexitarian Diet

TKP Review: The Flexitarian Diet

Hey Peaches!

Here is my review of The Flexitarian Diet I tried for the month of August. If you want to read the overview, read it here.

The Flexitarian Diet Review

IMG_3228[1]

Results-

Really the only results that I have are that I did 31 days of the diet. I am in my very last few weeks of pregnancy so weight loss will not be likely and it for sure didn’t happen this month. I didn’t gain any weight for most of the month which I guess considering the baby is gaining weight could mean that I lost a few pounds but there was no drastic weight loss or anything. Again, until this baby is out the weight loss results are kinda hard to report.

How The Diet Made Me Feel-

Although I did enjoy the food that I was eating, I did feel a little unsatisfied without a little animal protein in my daily diet. I don’t know if this was because of the pregnancy or because I still have a bunch of muscle left over from my body building days, but I did feel like ending a meal was a struggle especially at the end of the day. Plus, I do not like beans so I found myself eating tons of eggs and yogurt. I love tofu but find it nowhere near as filling as eggs and yogurt. So although I did enjoy the food on the diet, at this point in my life I need a little animal protein in my daily diet. At least every other day.

How Easy Was The Diet To Stick To?

As long as I was home and planned my meals, it was pretty easy to stick to. However, when I was at a restaurant I never ordered anything vegetarian, and when life got really hectic I found the diet going out the window. I think this would have been easier to stick to on the fly if my whole family was eating this way but it was just me. I definitely found myself more on the flexing side of the diet toward the end of the month.

Would I Recommend This Diet To You?

Sure. I would. Just like any other eating style, if you want to lose weight you have to watch your calories to make that happen. So if you are looking to eat healthier, maybe lose some weight, and have been curious about the vegetarian lifestyle, I think Flexitarian is a great way to start!

All in all, I didn’t mind being a flexitarian for a month but I didn’t find it overly amazing either. I am definitely glad I gave it a shot and look forward to beginning Volumetrics in the morning!

Have you tried The Flexitarian Diet?

We Are Not What We Eat!

We Are Not What We Eat!

Good Morning!

And by that I mean early morning, very early morning. This pregnancy has me sleeping and awake at the oddest times. I was absolutely exhausted at 8:00 pm last night and then up wide awake this morning at 2:00 am! The upside is that I get plenty of that coveted “alone time” this morning that mom’s long for.

We Are NOT What We Eat!

I listened to a fantastic podcast between Abel James and Marc David yesterday about the psychology of eating. It was about how we humans love to brand ourselves with the way we eat. We want to say “I’m a vegan” or “I am gluten free” or “I’m keto” or “I’m paleo”. While there are definitely proven benefits to all of these eating styles and it is never a bad thing to try to eat healthy, there is a danger in branding ourselves because we become unable to open ourselves to new ways of eating that may just be what our body needs. Abel told the story of one of his friends, who had been a long time vegan, buying a huge container of yogurt from the grocery store everyday and hiding it under a bunch of kale in his cart so no one would see. His body was obviously deficient in certain nutrients which was why he was craving the yogurt so badly, but he was afraid to let anyone see him buying it because he had been such an advocate for the vegan lifestyle for so long. Not only did he feel guilty for eating the yogurt, but he knew that he would be ridiculed because some of his fellow vegans felt so strongly that the vegan lifestyle is the absolute healthiest.

It’s seems crazy but I have definitely found myself doing this. Just last summer, I fell in love with the low carb/high fat lifestyle but then quickly fell into the “all carbs are evil” mindset. I remember the night I finally broke down and ate every carb I saw. I felt guilty for giving in but man it felt good to eat those carbs! Now I realize that sometimes it is good to eat a diet really low in carbs, sometimes I need carbs like now in pregnancy. It would be silly to not listen to my body and give it what it needs especially when I am so blessed to be able to do so.

So what I took away from the podcast is that we humans are not constant so we cannot expect to eat the same way every single day for the rest of our lives. We wish we could! That is why we are constantly trying to find “the plan” that works forever so that we don’t have to think about what to eat and can simply go live life. But that’s just not how it works. As we go through life, our bodies change as well as our environment. We have to listen to our bodies and be open to giving it the foods it is asking for. The healthy foods it’s asking for by the way. 😉

Our food is not our identity, our food is not our religion. Our food is our nourishment to help us live the best life we possibly can.

Sugarless Summer Challenge – Day 11

I didn’t post for Day 10. But I didn’t have sugar! Hope all of you hung in there for Day 10 as well. You all are doing so good!

As I said earlier, I got up super early but still had breakfast. What’s a quiet morning without breakfast? Trying to be considerate of my sleeping family, I went with a yogurt bowl since the preparation didn’t make a lot of noise.

Chat later in the comments! Have a fabulous Saturday everyone.
