Getting Ready To Get Summer Ready + Viking to Vegan Update + MHC Day 31

Happy Friday Peaches!

I’m so ready to get summer ready! My Summer Ready Series kicks off on Sunday with the 3 Day Refresh and I could not be more pumped to begin. Even though the series doesn’t begin until Sunday, I need to plan and prep for the 3 Day Refresh today since we will be spending some long awaited time with our friends Rhonda and Pasquale tomorrow.

 

The prep won’t be too difficult since all I really need to have on hand and prepped for the cleanse is my preferred fruit and veggies and of course the 3 Day Refresh shakes. I won’t be completely quitting coffee for the cleanse but I will be cutting back so I do need to find a good caffeine free tea . Any suggestions? Other than that, I am just making sure that I am nice an organized and ready to go so that I don’t have to think about anything on Sunday. Of course, I did have to get a whole new progress journal just for my Summer Ready Series…….. I love notebooks! And mechanical pencils!

Update On Viking to Vegan

I have been keeping a vegetarian diet for most of the week in preparation for the 3 Day Refresh. I am pleased in the fact that I am not all hungry and unsatisfied feeling like I thought I might be, but I have to admit that when I stepped on the scale this morning and was up a pound I was a little discouraged especially since my weight has stayed exactly the same for almost a whole month. But I know that the pound is not fat. It’s water because with carbohydrates comes a little bit of water retention as well. Plus, I measured myself as well and I am exactly the same size. So no sweat, but my stall in progress is definitely a driving force in my readiness for the next few months. Onward!

Day 31 The Master’s Hammer and Chisel

Today was my start of the second half of this program. Chisel Balance was a great way to kick it off since it is pretty difficult and balance is just a weak point for me anyway. Even though I managed to get all of my workouts in for the first half, I feel like I could have focused more and just could have made a better effort in each workout. Seeing my lack luster results, I’m coming at month 2 with a vengeance.

 

That being said, my balance still needs a lot of work haha.

Day 29 MHC + Vegetarian Eating

Hey Yall!

Day 29 The Master’s Hammer and Chisel: Total Body Chisel

Today’s workout in The Master’s Hammer and Chisel was Total Body Chisel. I really like this one because it is so reminiscent of my old gym workouts that I used to do. I have no picture nor can I find my post from the first time I did this workout…… is this the first time I’ve done this one? I don’t think so….. hmmm.

Oh well, it was great because I was right in my former comfort zone of 3 sets of 10 of basic bodybuilding moves. Ah, memories. You and I had a good time together, weights. Still do! Just in a different way. 🙂

Viking to Vegan 

I blogged this morning about the fact that I am eating a vegetarian diet for the rest of this week in preparation for the vegan 3 Day Refresh cleanse that I start Sunday. It’s a vegan plan but I won’t be entirely vegan because I opted to use my vanilla Shakeology rather than go with one of the vegan flavors offered.

So here is my first vegetarian day. I am really trying to consume more produce. Because of this I made a smoothie today with spinach, kale, blueberries, almond milk, and cinnamon….. it was ok haha. Not amazing. Back to the drawing board.

Ryan’s 2nd Dentist Visit Day 28 MHC + Grocery Snack + Day 2

Ryan’s Second Visit to the Dentist

Well we are two for two for dentist visits.

I can’t believe how well Ryan behaves for the dentist. He doesn’t even act like himself. I have to basically pry his mouth open with a crowbar to brush his teeth! But you would never know it at the dentist. He cooperates extremely well. He does, however, still have to wear shades like he did last time because the light is too bright. I forgot to bring his so he wore mine haha.

Grocery Snack

 

When I am out and about and end up in need of a snack, I always opt to just run into the grocery store. RARELY does a drive thru or convenient store have a healthy option. Even the “health” bars and nuts are junky 😦

It takes a little more effort to go into a grocery store but it’s definitely worth it!

Day 28 The Master’s Hammer and Chisel: Hammer Power

This workout is SO FUN. It is full of power lifts which is something I have been wanting to try but honestly kind of scared to. I was glad to try them at home with lighter weights and the instruction of Arnold (Sagi Kalev).

During this morning’s workout, I realized how far I have come from when I first started working out again after having Anna. I noticed that I am finally able to do all of the exercises that are in the programs (except pull-ups). I don’t know though, maybe I can do a pull-up. I will try next time I take Ryan to the park. Anyway, it was a great moment to know that I had made a good amount of progress.

I’m Not Going to Bore You With My Food….

Because it’s exactly the same today as everyday.

Ok, last day of eggs and yogurt. Tomorrow I AM BRANCHING OUT….. a little anyway. I am keeping a vegetarian diet the rest of the week in preparation for the 3 Day Refresh that starts Sunday! Plus, I will be doing a clean eating challenge after that in which I will have to make recipes. I better warm myself up!

Day 26 MHC: Rest Day with the Fam

Good Evening Peaches!

Just popping in to document Day 26 in The Master’s Hammer and Chisel. Today was my rest day and it was spent at church and with the fam!

Ryan ended up getting a big bump on his head in Sunday school. The kids were playing with balloons and he ran into the door! Ow, poor guy. 😦

For some reason the bruise wouldn’t show up in the pictures. It’s right next to his hairline in the middle of his forehead. It was pretty dark but now it’s actually almost gone! Kids heal so fast!

My day included a Kevita which felt good after last night’s Mich Ultras (only 2)……..

…….and the peanut butter party I ended up having. There were only two in attendance, me and the spoon. :/

So due to that, I wasn’t that hungry today.

Thinking Outside the Box + Day 24 MHC

Hey hey!

Gah. What a beautiful day! I’m just going to pretend like it’s spring already. Here in Georgia it has been warm more than it’s been cold and I am giving up hope that we will get snow. 😦 Oh well, yay for spring!

Thinking Outside The Box- Using My Unfinished Basement Ceiling To Strengthen My Lats!

For all of you with unfinished basements, today I am sharing how I am able to strengthen my lats at home with mine.

Pull-ups are one of the exercises in The Master’s Hammer and Chisel. I do not own a pull-up bar and frankly, can’t do a pull-up. This is how I rigged up my resistance bands to still give my lats a workout!

My basement is unfinished (and messy) so the beams of the ceiling are exposed. I stood on my bench and wrapped the resistance bands around where the beams come together so that I could pull the band at an angle. When they do a pull-up on The Master’s Hammer and Chisel, I pull the bands to where I really feel it working when I pull down. Then I lean forward with one leg forward and pull down!

A little outside the box but gets the job done!

Day 24 The Master’s Hammer and Chisel

Day 24! Chisel cardio! I think I said this last time I did this workout but if you hate cardio, this is the cardio for you. It’s so much more fun than just plugging away on a machine. It’s so neat to use the weights for a cardio workout.

What I ate today!

Up until yesterday, every time you have seen “Greek yogurt and Shakeology” on my meal plan it has been Vanilla. But yesterday and today I tried the Cafe Latte flavor. So good! I will be switching to this for my next order. 🙂

We do Thankful Thursday in the TKP closed group on Facebook (don’t worry TKP friends, only sharing my post). Today we were sharing something that we don’t really like about our bodies and thought of how we could make peace with it.

I shared my feet. I have always hated them and it is time to make peace………

The Master’s Hammer and Chisel Day 23

The MHC workout of the day was Max Hammer Strength. This is the one where you do one set of the exercise for 1 minute with no weight and then another set with your max weight for 8 reps.

I just LOVE how they save Bulgarian split squats for last. Eye roll.

One of the exercises in the workout is lat pull-overs. Sagi Kalev (Arnold) mentions to be careful because you could get hurt doing this exercise. My stomach turns. It was this exercise that I was doing at the YMCA a few years ago when I took the weight back and my right arm came out of socket!!! I sat up and it magically went back into place but I felt faint and thought I was going to puke. So yeah, I was careful with this one today.

I only have a few more of these boring food posts. Not because I want to change my food, you know I love my viking diet, but next week I will be doing the 3 Day Refresh cleanse and then after that I will be doing a series of challenges that will force me to go out of my food comfort zone and actually make recipes. I’m so excited! I love this stuff! But sigh…… I’m nervous. But excited!  But nervous nonetheless.

Sugarless Update + Cheat Meals + Day 21 MHC

I’ve decided to combine a bunch of topics into one post from now on. I want to document my Hammer and Chisel Journey but I don’t want that to be all I blog about for 60 days. I have been meaning to update you all on how my sugarlessness is going. What better day than Valentine’s Day to do so right?

So today I am sharing an update on being sugarless, what I eat for cheat meals, and then Day 21 of The Master’s Hammer and Chisel!

Sugarless Update!

I quit sugar on October 30, 2016 so it’s been three and a half months. I can’t believe it’s only been three and a half months! It seriously feels like I have been sugarless forever. Not in a bad way, it such a good way! I still do not have one ounce of regret for quitting. I no longer experience that weird sugar coma that I used to get when I would eat too much sugar. And it was always too much sugar, that’s the whole reason I quit. I was just sick of being tired and I was tired of making progress on a healthy eating plan only to be completely derailed the minute I took a bite of a cupcake. Plus, the sugar exhausts me. I have so much more energy to devote to my life now. I have a husband and 2 kids that need a wife and mom, I am a Beachbody coach and am having the best time helping people achieve a healthier lifestyle, plus I am the one that does all the housework. I don’t have time to be exhausted nor do I want to be! I enjoy being able to give 100% in my day and if that takes quitting sugar, so be it. It feels so good to be healthy and to approach food with more control.  So all is well in the sugarless world and I am settling in and making myself cozy.

So What About Cheat Meals?

So what about cheat meals? Do I still eat them? Yes, I just don’t have any sugar. It’s funny how once you kick sugar, chicken and eggs become really salty and fruit is like candy. My favorite cheat meal is actually salted nuts and oatmeal unsweetened applesauce and I often have that at home. When I go out to eat, my indulgence is in alcohol haha. Not a lot of it. I didn’t include alcohol in my quitting junky sugar because I don’t have it all the time and when I do I don’t feel the need to drink a ton of it like I did when I would have a donut or a cookie. But it’s not just the alcohol that is the indulgence when I go out to eat. I love not having to cook, being out with my family, and having something I don’t usually have at home like steak or swordfish. This has proven to be a much more enjoyable way to indulge than going out and having this huge fried calorie filled meal with dessert and drinks and everything. When I used to do this I felt terrible the rest of the night and had no energy to do anything else. The only fun I had was in the actually eating of the food. There is so much more fun to be had!

So I do cheat but not with sugar. 🙂

PS- I have said this before and I will say it again. There is nothing wrong with eating sugar in moderation. This blog is me sharing with you the things that are working for me in my fitness journey and sugar has proved to be more trouble than it is worth for me. I am by no means saying that I think everyone should quit sugar for good.

The Master’s Hammer and Chisel Day 21: Chisel ISO Strength

BURN!!! Burn burn burn. I am now getting the hang of things in these workouts and adding more weight. It burns! This was my second time doing this workout. You do 3 sets of each exercise. In each set, you do 10 reps and then hold the movement for 10 seconds. It burned so bad but it was a great workout. It feels so good to work hard!
