Getting Ready To Get Summer Ready + Viking to Vegan Update + MHC Day 31

Happy Friday Peaches!

I’m so ready to get summer ready! My Summer Ready Series kicks off on Sunday with the 3 Day Refresh and I could not be more pumped to begin. Even though the series doesn’t begin until Sunday, I need to plan and prep for the 3 Day Refresh today since we will be spending some long awaited time with our friends Rhonda and Pasquale tomorrow.

The prep won’t be too difficult since all I really need to have on hand and prepped for the cleanse is my preferred fruit and veggies and of course the 3 Day Refresh shakes. I won’t be completely quitting coffee for the cleanse but I will be cutting back so I do need to find a good caffeine free tea . Any suggestions? Other than that, I am just making sure that I am nice an organized and ready to go so that I don’t have to think about anything on Sunday. Of course, I did have to get a whole new progress journal just for my Summer Ready Series…….. I love notebooks! And mechanical pencils!

Oh and progress pics, can’t forget those!

Update On Viking to Vegan

img_20170223_142547

I have been keeping a vegetarian diet for most of the week in preparation for the 3 Day Refresh. I am pleased in the fact that I am not all hungry and unsatisfied feeling like I thought I might be, but I have to admit that when I stepped on the scale this morning and was up a pound I was a little discouraged especially since my weight has stayed exactly the same for almost a whole month. But I know that the pound is not fat. It’s water because with carbohydrates comes a little bit of water retention as well. Plus, I measured myself as well and I am exactly the same size. So no sweat, but my stall in progress is definitely a driving force in my readiness for the next few months. Onward!

Day 31 The Master’s Hammer and Chisel

Today was my start of the second half of this program. Chisel Balance was a great way to kick it off since it is pretty difficult and balance is just a weak point for me anyway. Even though I managed to get all of my workouts in for the first half, I feel like I could have focused more and just could have made a better effort in each workout. Seeing my lack luster results, I’m coming at month 2 with a vengeance.

That being said, my balance still needs a lot of work haha.

Questions:

How are you getting ready for summer?

Are you already summer ready? If so, wow!

Have you every done a cleanse?

Does a setback motivate you or paralyze you?

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Viking to Vegan

Good morning Friends!

I’m going from Viking to vegan!

Well, not a real vegan but close enough for me at the moment! If you follow my food/workout posts, you know that I call myself a Viking because lately all I seem to be eating is meat and dairy. I have no clue how vikings really ate but I picture them eating similarly haha. Actually, let me google it. One sec!

Ok, so not too much dairy mentioned here  but I was kinda right.

Anyway I didn’t mean to eat like a Viking. Here’s how it all started and the progression that lead up to my current way of eating.

-Discovered clean eating, changed diet, felt great
-Dieted too much, exercised too much, felt like crap
-Stopped doing cardio because I was sick of it, stops watching calories because I was sick of it
-Gained weight 😦
-Tried the LCHF diet, LOVED it!, lost a little weight but then couldn’t lose anymore, no problem because I felt so good
-Hormones went crazy after 3 months of no carbs because, well, you need some carbs in your life
-Started over with just a clean diet, sort of watching calories and sort of watching carbs
-Got pregnant with Anna, gained tons of weight
-Had Anna. Found weight loss success with a clean, lower carb diet with little carb ups here and there plus 21 Day Fix Extreme and Insanity Max 30, BUT still kept falling off the wagon when I had junk food
-Quit sugar, found it SO MUCH easier to stick to a meal plan
-Got busy being a mom of an infant and 4 year old and stuck to healthy eating by only eating the things that I didn’t have to steam or wash or cut up. I save and reheat whatever meat I make for the family for dinner and always have yogurt and almonds on hand. I boil a big batch of eggs on Sunday so I can grab them when I need a quick snack throughout the week
-Realized I had become a Viking

So that’s how I became a Viking. BUT Sunday I will be starting the 3 Day Refresh which is three days of having three of Beachbody’s shakes (1 Shakeology, 2 Vanilla Fresh), a Fiber Sweep drink, and then your diet is all vegan.

To ease myself into this, I am keeping a vegetarian diet for the rest of the week. I refuse to only eat yogurt, nuts, and eggs though so I am making the effort to add produce. I’m not going to lie y’all, I’m kinda nervous. But I am keeping an open mind and I am excited about adding more color to my diet! Lord knows I need to.

So that’s where I am at right now haha. We’ll see how this goes!

I would love to hear from vegetarians and vegans about your diet! So today’s questions are for the plant-based peeps!

QUESTIONS FOR THE PLANT-BASED:

Are you a vegan or a vegetarian?

Why do you love your eating style?

Do you find it challenging to stick to? Are you hungry all the time?

Any tips? Please!

Thank you in advance!

Happy Sunday!

TKP Review: The Flexitarian Diet

Hey Peaches!

Here is my review of The Flexitarian Diet I tried for the month of August. If you want to read the overview, read it here.

The Flexitarian Diet Review

Results-

Really the only results that I have are that I did 31 days of the diet. I am in my very last few weeks of pregnancy so weight loss will not be likely and it for sure didn’t happen this month. I didn’t gain any weight for most of the month which I guess considering the baby is gaining weight could mean that I lost a few pounds but there was no drastic weight loss or anything. Again, until this baby is out the weight loss results are kinda hard to report.

How The Diet Made Me Feel-

Although I did enjoy the food that I was eating, I did feel a little unsatisfied without a little animal protein in my daily diet. I don’t know if this was because of the pregnancy or because I still have a bunch of muscle left over from my body building days, but I did feel like ending a meal was a struggle especially at the end of the day. Plus, I do not like beans so I found myself eating tons of eggs and yogurt. I love tofu but find it nowhere near as filling as eggs and yogurt. So although I did enjoy the food on the diet, at this point in my life I need a little animal protein in my daily diet. At least every other day.

How Easy Was The Diet To Stick To?

As long as I was home and planned my meals, it was pretty easy to stick to. However, when I was at a restaurant I never ordered anything vegetarian, and when life got really hectic I found the diet going out the window. I think this would have been easier to stick to on the fly if my whole family was eating this way but it was just me. I definitely found myself more on the flexing side of the diet toward the end of the month.

Would I Recommend This Diet To You?

Sure. I would. Just like any other eating style, if you want to lose weight you have to watch your calories to make that happen. So if you are looking to eat healthier, maybe lose some weight, and have been curious about the vegetarian lifestyle, I think Flexitarian is a great way to start!

All in all, I didn’t mind being a flexitarian for a month but I didn’t find it overly amazing either. I am definitely glad I gave it a shot and look forward to beginning Volumetrics in the morning!

Questions:

Have you tried The Flexitarian Diet?

Any questions about this diet that I didn’t cover?

Peach On A Diet! Volumetrics Overview

I can’t believe tomorrow is September 1st and already time to move onto my next diet on Peach On A Diet!  In case, you are just tuning in, Peach On A Diet! is my little adventure trying 12 different eating styles in 12 months. I will be trying The Volumetrics Diet for the month of September which is my third diet so far. I tried The Dash Diet In July and The Flexitarian Diet in August. Ok, onto the overview of Volumetrics!

The Volumetrics Diet

I chose Volumetrics for the month of September because my baby is due this month and it is the closest eating style to the way I eat anyway. I don’t know about you, but in my mind the birth of a new baby is definitely NOT the time to try any diet that is a drastic stretch from your norm. Volumetrics is all about clean eating while getting the biggest bang for your calorie buck. I have always been a big eater so this diet is right up my alley.

What Do You Eat?

Volumetrics has you find out the amount of calories you should be consuming for your size and activity level, then has you fill that calorie allotment with foods that give you a lot of volume for a low amount of calories. There are 4 categories of foods, Category 1 being Very Low Calorie Density foods in which you can eat anytime, Category 2 is Low Calorie Density foods in which you are to eat reasonable portions, Category 3 is Medium Calorie Density foods that you are to manage your portion sizes, and Category 4 is High Calorie Density foods in which you are to limit.

IMG_3604[1]

The diet encourages you to choose mostly from Categories 1 and 2 and really limit foods from Categories 3 and 4.

The concept is pretty simple!

Exercise?

The book says that The Volumetrics Diet is based on three goals which are weight loss, daily calories, and daily steps meaning the main form of exercise it advocates is walking. It recommends getting a pedometer and making sure you reach a certain amount of steps each day. I will not be using a pedometer but I will be doing my Country Heat workouts each morning and going for a few short walks in the afternoon and evening.

So that is the jist of Volumetrics! I’m excited to start fresh tomorrow! I think a few of us are ready for a fresh new month. 🙂

Questions:

What are your first thoughts of Volumetrics?

Have you ever tried it?

Stay tuned for my upcoming review of The Flexitarian Diet that ended today!
